The city of Avondale released the following announcement on January 3rd.

The Avondale City District and Family Services Department, in conjunction with the non-profit association A New Leaf, offers toll-free income tax preparation services to help people and families with their families. low and moderate income families.

Services will be available to the community every Tuesday and Saturday starting January 22 at the Care1st Avondale Resource Center, until Saturday, April 13, 2019.

The Tax Assistance Program for Volunteers, known as VITA, offers IRS trained and certified volunteers to help households earning less than $ 55,000 and in need of assistance. help with the processing of their annual tax returns. VITA sites not only offer free tax preparation, but also help taxpayers solicit benefits they may not be aware of, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit or EITC.

Tax preparation assistance is available at the Care1st Avondale Resource Center (328 W. Western Avenue, Avondale) every Tuesday from 5 pm. -7am and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm until April 13th. No appointment necessary. Walk-in is welcome.

Visitors to the VITA site must carry the following items:

• Social security card or ITIN IRS card or ITIN letter for all household members

• Photo ID for taxpayer (and spouse)

• Dates of birth for all persons on the tax return

• Proof of all income, including forms W-2 and 1099

• Name, address and tax identification number of the child care provider

• Amount paid to child care provider last year

• Account and routing number for direct deposit

• Copy of the tax return from last year, if available

Due to the requirements of health insurance, also include:

• All forms 1095, Health insurance declarations

• Certificate of exemption from health insurance, if received

• Forms 1095-A, B or C, Affordable Health Care Statements

To electronically file joint returns and obtain the quickest repayments, both spouses must be present.
