The pre-tax profits of the expanding company behind Costa Coffee and a series of KFC franchises increased by 37% to 11.44 million euros last year.

The new accounts recorded by MBCC Foods (Ireland) Ltd show that turnover increased by 10%, from 85.66 million euros to 94.2 million euros in the period up to the end of January.

A breakdown of the company's revenues shows that € 70 million was recorded here and € 24.18 million in the United Kingdom.

The directors stated that during the year, the company continued to expand by opening 17 additional outlets.

Since the end of the fiscal year ended January 31, 2018, the Company has acquired five new properties in Ireland.

It has also opened eight other Costa Coffee outlets since the end of the year and closed one of its KFC outlets – at the Omni Park shopping center in Santry, in northern Dublin – on the 30th. September 2018.

The accounts show that the company paid € 3.7 million in dividends during the period up to the end of January 2018 and declared and paid additional dividends of € 231,704 and € 137,380 in April and June 2018. The company's profit includes depreciation of € 6.3 million and rental rents of € 8.5 million.

Last year, the company spent 155.105 euros in uniforms; € 522,473 on disposal of waste; and € 209,313 on security.

The number of people employed increased from 1,614 to 1,710 and personnel costs increased from 22.15 to 25.6 million.
